How to translate the OpenCms Workplace
This documentation describes how to translate the OpenCms workplace and the online help. The OpenCms workplace is the backoffice part of OpenCms where the users can manage the contents.
The translation can be done in two steps which are completely independent:
- Step 1 describes how to translate the OpenCms workplace backoffice interface.
- Step 2 describes how to translate the OpenCms online help.
It may be sufficient for your needs to translate only the OpenCms workplace backoffice interface, you do not need to translate the online help to get a working OpenCms in the desired language.
For your convenience, we added a "localization tool" to make the workplace translation very easy.
Contribution of a translation
If you do a translation, it would be
great if you contribute it so that others can use it as well. If you are interesting in doing
this, please follow the instructions outlined here to do the translation and send the result of
your work to contributions@opencms.org.
We will make it available for download on the OpenCms website. You (or your
company) will of course be mentioned as the contributor if you want this. Even if you translate only
a part of the workplace, please consider contributing it - maybe
someone else will finish the work later on.
